Waiting for summer term's first class: Programming Systems.  I get to learn Java.  Looking forward to that.
Thinking about the tech I can see on the horizon: kids playing with robotic toys now becoming the first generation comfortable with robots, just as their parents grew up with computers and have a deep comfort level with them.  I wonder how my sons will do with kids who intuitively use glove controls for their computers, or maybe hand motions instead of keyboards and mice.  Will I get a robot that properly cleans floors or is my old-age companion?  My parents pioneered transistor radios.  My generation had mainframes, punch cards and teletypes, then DOS and Windows 3.1.  My kids grew up with email, VBasic, and the beginnings of robots.  My grandkids will grow up with robots, ubiquitous computing, cell phones etc.  Be interesting to see what happens with all of that.  I see kids in packs today, but 3/4 of them are staring at their phones and not communicating with each other.  Social relations will therefore change.  Wonder what else will change.
